O2 Travel bolt-on for business users updated
The UK
network O2 has announced that on the 12th April 2016, there will be some
significant improvements to the roaming bolt-on O2 Travel while in Europe.
The network has also released details on its reduced EU pricing that will
come into effect on 28th April 2016, as a result of new EU regulations.
O2 Travel Changes - effective 12th April
2016
What's changing?
Previously
on O2 Travel, a customer would pay £1.66 for a days' worth of data (GMT) in
Europe, with calls having a connection charge of 41p to talk for up to 60
minutes and texts being charged at the standard rate of 4p.
O2
has announced that from the 12th April, a customer will pay £1.66 a day (GMT)
to use data, minutes and texts in Europe. This means if a customer travels in
Europe, they can make business calls, browse online and send texts all for
£1.66 a day. All of which comes in addition to their UK allowance.
The
£1.66 charge will be triggered automatically when calls are made to other O2
Travel destinations including the UK, or when texts are sent or data is used.
Any unused data, calls and texts won’t be carried over to the following day
and O2 Travel won’t be triggered by receiving calls or text messages.
Who will get the new
version of O2 Travel?
Existing
customers opted into O2 Travel will be able to benefit from the improvements
and this will automatically be applied. New and re-signing customers who opt
in for O2 Travel will also benefit.
EU Regulation Changes –
effective 28th April 2016
On
28th April, O2 will be reducing its standard rate pricing in Europe for
calls, texts and data. These changes are the first step in the EU
Regulation that is looking to create ‘Roam Like at Home’ where a customer can
use their domestic tariff in the EU at no extra cost by June 2017, although
the specific details on how this will look are yet to be confirmed.
The
regulated rates are still pay as you use and therefore offer the customer
very little control, with the potential to run up a bill of £36 on data and
any amount on calls and texts. For this reason the regulator has allowed all
operators to continue to promote their commercial European propositions, and
for O2 this is O2 Travel.
O2
firmly believe that if a customer wants control of their costs in Europe
whilst enabling employees to continue conference calling and doing emails on
the move, then O2 Travel is the answer. With O2 Travel there is no need for
you or your staff to calculate how many minutes you've been on the phone and
how many MBs of data you've used to see if you've racked up a bill.
Is there anything that I
need to do?
O2
Travel is compatible with the Worldwide 24 hour data Bolt On, so O2 advise
all regular roamers to use these two roaming propositions when they travel.
Heavy users, such as Directors and Sales Managers, should be move towards the
Worldwide data Bolt On, in which case there is no need for O2 Travel, for all
their data needs Worldwide.
