Vodafone roaming changes for outside Europe

For all Business users on Vodafone, there are some major changes occurring with their roaming rates outside Europe. The changes will only apply to any users that are new or upgrading on the networks Red price plans via the networks new billing platform Gemini from 05 August 2017.

What’s happening?

The new roaming rates will come under the title "Rest of World", or shown on the bills as RoW. For most destinations outside Europe, this will be a significant price drop. If you are a business traveller that finds themselves often on the other side of that EU fence, these new rates will make your bills much cheaper than before. However, the network has warned that some locations will in fact increase in cost.
Below shows these changes in rates

Please note: charges for making a call are for calls to the UK, or within the country you’re visiting.

What does this mean for all other users with Vodafone?
Existing customers that have not upgraded will not be affected by the changes listed above and will be subject to their current roaming rates until otherwise informed. The new, updated Price Plan Guide is shown below;

Additional services

The network has also announced that there will also be some misalignment with the services below, until they deliver rezoning across all existing products/customers:
  • In-country Welcome SMS: This service will direct all Red customers towards the old roaming rates, when roaming in ROW zones. This will be updated in the coming months to accommodate new & existing customers, covering rates for customers who joined both before & after 05 August 2017.
  • MDN Data Capping & Data Usage Notifications: MDN notifications will continue to refer to existing roaming rates and, therefore, from 05 August 2017, Red customers on the new Gemini billing platform will receive notifications on data capping and data usage based on the existing (and typically higher) roaming rates.
  • Data Traveller: Red customers on the new billing platform of Gemini will not be able to opt into this service after 05 August 2017. If a customer has opted in prior to 05 August 2017, they will continue to be able to use the service until it is terminated or until they opt out.
